FIRST NATIONAL CAMPAIGN ON TEENAGE MENTAL HEALTH LAUNCHED In 2004, 1 in 10 children and young people aged 5-16 had a clinically diagnosed mental health disorder (Mental Health of Children and Young People, 2004 – Office for National Statistics) and with 80,000 children and young people suffering from severe depression, it was good news in October 2015 when an initiative funded by the Department of Health was launched which will help parents to spot the difference between normal adolescent behaviour and medical problems. 14-18 year olds will be targeted to stop them stigmatising peers who are suffering from a mental...
